For those of you who don't know, Susan Posnick Cosmetics is based in Dallas -- home to ranch-running cowboys, grill-smoked barbecue, and believe it or not, impeccable southern style.  For the next few posts, we'll reflect on our roots and feature some Dallas fashion bloggers to give us the lowdown on all things southern and fabulous.

Our first spotlight is on Genniva Bruce, Dallas-based fashion stylist, blogger of Somewear to Be and recently a finalist in Tootsies Top Blogger competition.

Tell us a little about Somewear to Be. What made you first start the blog?
In May 2011 my life took a dramatic turn.  In one fell swoop I left my job at Lucky magazine, where I had spent the last 7 years working.  I uprooted myself from NYC and moved my entire belongings to the heart of all things southern and good: Dallas, Texas.  And if that wasn’t enough, during the chaos of my grand departure from the Big Apple, I injured myself, had to have knee surgery, and spent the first few months of my summer in BIG D on crutches!  It was definitely not the glamorous entrance into Dallas that I had been hoping for.  Bored out of my mind, feeling more alone than ever and greatly separated from the fashion world that I had become so accustomed to, I decided I needed a creative outlet.  The only problem was that I couldn’t leave my couch!  So, that is where my blog, Somewear To Be, was born!

How would you describe southern style or specifically, Dallas style? What do you think distinguishes it from other areas in the US?
Everything's sweeter down south!  There is a warmer softer lifestyle down here that can be seen through the way people dress.  I think Dallas gals openly embrace all trends of the season, but they do so in a way that is more fun and approachable, unlike NY where fashion forward street wear seems more harsh and unwelcoming to the every day person.

-Any looks for summer?  Have fun with color this summer!  Take risks and play!  That is what this season is all about.
